SCHOOLS BACK…

Q: I have been getting feedback that my child is having regulation issues, could OT help?

A: OT in the private setting could assess your child’s sensory system with a variety of challenges that replicate school and home demands.   Working in a sensory gym out of the school setting can allow your child the ability to learn to self-regulate in a variety of settings.

Q: My child is currently getting one therapy at DPT, but I am seeing other issues, how do I get a referral for more services?

A: We are happy to evaluate your child for occupational, physical or speech therapy.   Talk to your current therapist about your concerns.   We will be happy to answer any questions and guide you through the necessary paperwork needed to get started.

Q: Would it be possible to get a medical excuse to attend therapy sessions at DPT?

A: Absolutely.  Your child’s therapy at DPT is physician prescribed and is therefore medically necessary.  We are happy to write a medical excuse for your child’s school to have on file to allow a late start to school or an early release in order for your child to attend a physician prescribed therapy session.

Q: Can DPT therapy incorporate school concerns into the sessions?

A: Absolutely.  We can incorporate school concerns, home concerns and community concerns.  DPT is not restricted to an IEP.   Our goal is to work with you and your child and to meet the goals of your family.   We focus on the team approach with you, the family, as being a part of the goal setting.
