Sensory Breaks Needed in the Virtual World

Sensory Breaks Needed in the Virtual World

As therapists, we all know the importance of sensory breaks that many of our friends need throughout the day.  The need is seen in the classroom, at home at the table and in the therapy clinic when doing a prolonged seated task.  We need to MOVE!!!  Some of our kids need to move more often than others and some need to move before a table top demand is placed on them.   We all have our favorite “warm-up” routines or activities we do for sensory breaks throughout the day.  With so many of our friends doing virtual school and increasing their “seated” time, I wanted to share this You Tube link that shows a “Miss Renee OT” doing some wonderful warm-ups.  Only thing that is required is a dish towel.  Give it a try before an activity or when a break is needed.
